📊 Visa At A Glance
What is the Subclass 190 Visa?
The Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190) is a permanent residency visa for skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government. Because it is nominated, the nominating state provides you with a5-point bonus on the points test.
In exchange for state nomination, you typically must commit to living and working in that state for the first 2 years after your visa is granted.
State Nomination Rules
Each Australian state and territory (such as NSW, VIC, QLD, WA) manages its own immigration requirements, separate from the federal Home Affairs department. They publish lists of priority occupations and require specific conditions:
- Onshore Applicants: Often require current residency in that state, and history of employment in your nominated occupation.
- Offshore Applicants: Selected based on high EOI scores and years of work experience in priority sectors.
